Hope in the Darkness

It was getting late and darkness falls quickly in the Himalayan mountains.  We had just finished a medical clinic in a remote Nepali village. Darkness is acute in Nepal both spiritually and naturally. Nepal is the high holy center of demonic worship.  The trip had been fruitful for the Kingdom, but we also had been attacked with sickness and real confrontations.   This was the last trip out before heading to Katmandu to catch the plane home. Our team bus was to pick us up at 4:00 pm so we would be able to make it down the mountain before total darkness settled in.  Five o clock came and no one showed up.  Finally the bus supervisor called down to ask where the bus was. It turned out that our bus had broken down on the way up. Not just any one can drive a bus on the mountain roads of Nepal. It takes special training because the roads are barely big enough for one car to pass and hairpin turns are everywhere. The mechanic was the only qualified driver s...

Who am I? Why am I here?

Who am I? Why am I here?  Almost all of us ask ourselves these questions at one time or another in our lives.  That is especially true now that we live in a time when chaos and confusion seem to be all around us. The desire for meaning and purpose is universal. Yet we strive to "live our best life. A common rational in not meeting the ideal is, "Well, I am only human." Questions you might also ask are what is the ideal human and what part of our humanity keeps us from attaining it?   One of the principles of Biblical interpretation is when you want to know the true sense of a term or a concept, you look at the first time it is found and see its context. So let us look at the original model of a human created by God and placed in the garden.  God said, "Let us make man (male and female)in our own image and likeness." Gen.1: 26,27  The context of "image" can be translated character, and the context of "likeness" translated to look similar or r...

God is faithful to answer prayer.

Have you ever wondered if God hears your prayers? You know God is real, but it like he is living on the other side of the earth. I have been there even though we have taught on the believer's authority and spiritual warfare for years.  This week the Lord brought me back to Prov. 3:5,6. " Trust in the   Lord   with all your heart  And   do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways   acknowledge Him,  And He will   make your paths straight."-NASB The Lord is so good to give us those experiences that show he hears your prayers.  One of his names is Jehovah Roi -the god who hears.  We have a grandson with a learning disability.  He is 20 but functions on the level of a fourth grader.  However, his spirit is pure and the Lord has given him the gift to see angels and demons. He has a job at a local grocery store stocking and helping people with their groceries.  On Halloween night we received an urgent call....

Stability in the Middle of Chaos

I could feel the rumbles of aftershocks as I lay in my two man tent.  Each rumble brought terror to Haitians wondering if it would be  a repeat of the massive earthquake they had just suffered.  I began reflecting on the tragedy of the earthquake and the devastation I observed on the trip in country.  Ten minutes one after noon had basically wiped out twenty percent of the nation's houses and infrastructure. Thousands of buildings had been demolished and people perished without warning. People everywhere were living in improvised shelters outside of buildings with cracked walls for fear of collapse while they were inside. Roads were broken, sewage pipes broken and cracks in the aquifers had opened resulting in contamination of the ground water. We had been working in Haiti for eleven years training pastors and leaders, but I had ever seen conditions of hopelessness like this. This trip had originally been planned as a water pump repair trip with another mi...

Living in the midst of a Kingdom War

We are living in an unprecedented  time.  Everywhere we look we see nations with corrupt leaders and godless philosophies. A world that seems to be in chaos governed by the kingdom of darkness.  There is a battle going on between good and evil forces and, in the natural, evil seems to big to lose. However, the earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof. He doesn't lose and has established his church (ekklesia) on earth and the gates of hell will not prevail.  His use of the term ekklesia was not a term for synagogue, or temple it was understood to be a called out people to legislate, govern business and judge things of the culture. Romans would send a group of citizens into a conquered land with the language, to establish laws  and customs until the people resembled Roman culture. Jesus goal was to establish the Kingdom of God in all nations. Muslims use this principle with cultural jhad to conquer for Islam. Thus the battle between light and dark kingdo...

A God who delights in keep his promises

When we talk about the Kingdom of God it is important to know the God of the Kingdom. Walking with God in what He is doing means that what you step into is always beyond you or more than you can understand with the natural mind.   Lean on, trust in,  and  be confident in the Lord with all your heart  and  mind and do not rely on your own insight  or  understanding. Prov. 3:5-AMPC One of the constant questions the Lord asks is "Ken, do you trust me?" I have to say yes, because I have committed my walk to follow him, but I can do it because He is trustworthy and he has proven it time and time again in my life. There is only one God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and the God and Father of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is a god of "Covenant." Covenant is mentioned 315 times in the Bible. A covenant is defined as a contract between two equal parties with each party having equal privileges. An oath is taken that binds both parties and their famili...

A War of Kingdoms

Scripture clearly states that we don't war against people but principalities, powers, and rulers of darkness. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against  principalities, against powers, against  the rulers of  [ c ] the darkness of this age, against spiritual  hosts  of wickedness in the heavenly  places. Eph. 6:12-NKJV This has never been more evident than the events of this last week withy the assassination of Charlie Kirk.  God has said that He will shake that which can be shaken so that that which cannot be shaken will remain. Our reaction to this tragedy will certainly reveal where hearts and actions lie.   The enemy of our souls often uses such things to steal, kill, and destroy within the church and the world at large. He uses outrage and people focused reactions to draw the battle lines. Quite frankly, fighting against people and their actions is like bringing a knife to a gunfight.  Truly the Lord is at work and ...
