The Kingdom of God is at Hand
This has been a season for evaluating everything in our lives. It would be easy to get stressed out by the situation in our nation and our ministry. Every year about this time we go to the Lord in prayer to ask Him for a theme that will guide our lives and ministry for the next twelve months. What came to mind was "The Kingdgom of God is at Hand." Everywhere we have gone it seems the Lord has given a great expectancy of His moving. The scripture that goes with this theme statement is actually "Repent for the Kingdom of heaven is at hand."
Normally we hear the word repent and thing of renouncing sin and asking forgiveness, and it does carry that emphasis. But the word means to change your mind or way of thinking. The Kingdom of God is also not just in heaven He is really the answer to all things.
There is a reason the Lord has said seek first His Kingdom and all these things will be added unto you. That is not by and by. That is now in this life. We can make a difference in our lives and the world. Prayer changes things. Righteousness as God defines it is powerful. The world would say "Keep the good news to yourself." Satan, a created being, is stronger than the creator of all things. There is no hope because the wickeness or the worlds way is to strong.
God says that it is His people who determine how things are going to go. "If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and turn from their wicked ways and pray. I will hear from heaven and I will heal their land. Jesus changed things and set things in order. Then He gave the body His authority to un do the works of the enemy of man.
We have set the next twenty one days aside for prayer to ask the Lord to clean out our lives and give us His direction for ministry and living. Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vein. Things may look differently than we have planned, but He is saying the Kingdom of God is alreay here. You are citizens of that Kingdom. Now change your way of thinking and act and live like it. We can choose God's way and standards (life)or the way of man and the world. (death) As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.
We are in a critical time and the decisions we make in the next few months and beyond will make a major difference not just in our lives but the life of the world.
Will you consider setting aside the next 21 days to seek the Lord on what He would have you do?
