Stepping Forth in the Faithfulness of God
Last month we began a fast to seek the Lord for His direction rather than our own thinking. The Lord reminded us that we needed to trust Him in all our ways; that He was for us and if we acknowlged Him in all our ways He would direct our paths. How often the Lord answers our prayers and cries in different ways than we expect!
I am reminded of the story of Peter and when he saw the Lord walking on the water. The Lord said, "Fear not, tis I."
Peter's response was: "If it really is you Lord, bid me to come to you."
Now Peter knew it was the Lord, but He had to trust that the Lord would "make the water hard" so he too could walk over to Him. With his eyes fixed on Jesus and not the wind and waves, he stepped out of the boat and walked toward Jesus. Only when he took his eyes off Jesus and put them on the wind and waves did he start sinking. Even then, when he cried out to the Lord, the Lord took him by the hand and led him back to the boat and safety.
So it was with us. We were thinking the Lord would give us a passage of scripture or a word that would be "Thus saith the Lord." The whole time, however He had us just fixing our eyes on Him and staying in His presence. Suddenly things began to break open.
We had been asking one of our heads of a foundation for two years to come with us to see the results of their investment. Suddenly, he called and told us he was going to Africa. "Is there anything I can do for you while I am there?" he asked.
He is so excited about working with us he can hardly stand it and is already in Africa.
We had been praying about an office for three years. Suddenly an office space opened up that was perfect for our needs and we heard, "Step out. Don't look at the surrounding circumstances; just keep your trust in me."
So, we stepped out of the boat and secured the space and now we are having to walk out the journey for the provision to outfit the office.
We had looked and tried to make our web presence more professional. Some ideas didn't work at all and others worked only in a limited way. Suddenly we found the venue to make the changes in our web capability and move ahead.
Have you ever prayed for something and then gotten discouraged or distacted by the wind and the waves? The good news is that you can still cry out to the Lord and He will build your faith for the next steps.
Do you need next steps for your family, business or personal life? Fix your eyes on Jesus and let him build your faith to move toward what He has for you.
