The faithfulness of God and "Little Stones." Names in the Bible have significance. Recently the Lord worked mightly in a Haitian women's conference. The conference was held in a town whose name meant "the place of little stones." Each women had a story but they all felt powerless in the face of great evil and hoplessness all around them The Lord reminded me of how David picked up five smooth stones from a stream to be used against demon-men giants. One stone for Goliath and four for each of his brothers.
These stones had been washed by the water and polished and shaped for their mission. When aimed and powered by the Holy Spirit they brought down giants. These women were the little stones who were freed by the Holy Spirit and could challenge the giants around them. In addition to the spiritual enemies they have to deal with there are phyical barriers to prospering that accompany oppression. e.g. lack of clean water, disease, poverty and the lack of education. We have endcountered these barriers in Haiti, Uganda, and Rawanda. Many of these barriers can be overcome with simple solutions but it takes a little help.
In Uganda children carry the burden of bringing water to the families often having to walk 1-5 miles twice a day. The burden of the work often prevents these children from attending school. Most of the sources are polluted and water born diseases thrive. It is not uncommon for these children to walk past wells with good water but the hand pump are broken making the water unreacable. 349 wells have been identified in the area where we work. 60% are broken and no one is available to repair them.
The Lord has given us opportunities to strengthen leaders to overcome spiritual barriens and help overcome the lack of clean water in Uganda. Beginning August 1st. we will be taking teams to both equip leaders for discipleship and train Ugandans to repair water hand pumps, but we need help.
The Ugandan trip will cost $12,500. Will you be one of those little stones powered by the Holy Spirit to give a tax deductible gift to help make a difference? You can give electronically by clicking the link and making your donation by credit card or e check.
