Clearing Our Vision
He told them, “The
harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest,
therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. When you enter a town and are welcomed,
eat what is offered to you. Heal the
sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near
to you.’ Luke 10: 2,8,9-NIV
The month of Elul is also a time of
separation from the hindrances of being
fully available and a time of worship to the Lord. The Jewish community remembers the people of
Nehemiah's time (Neh 9:2,3) when the separated from the people they had
intermarried in direct opposite of the Lord's command. In the natural it could seem harsh, but the
Lord had created Israel to reflect his character and nature. They had become polluted by mixing the
worship of the gods in the other nations with worship of the Lord. This practice made the Lord just like so many
other gods to the people of the world.
It also brought bondage instead of life and revival to God's people.
Creating Disciples:
The Gateway Center for World Mission has
been strengthening pastors and leaders in Haiti since 1999. "Ken, you are like John the Baptist to
us. Your message of the new Haiti
dedicated to God has not changed and there is almost no one who speaks this
message to encourage us and strengthen us." - Pastor Jean Pharez
Beaucejour, Les Cayes, Haiti 2012
Personal Reflection: We disciple who we are, both good and
bad. The kingdom has come near you. Ask the Lord to show you what are the things
that are keeping you from intimacy with him and hindering you from walking and
doing the things he did.
