Seek the Lord While He May Be Found

"Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon."-Isa 55:6,7-NIV
Observing the month of Elul was not just a religious practice apart from daily life. The life and relationship with God was part of every aspect of their life.  The Lord received praise and honor to the degree his people reflected His nature in everything.
As the people of Israel take this month of preparation while the natural king was approachable, Christians have unlimited access to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Jesus died to pay the penalty for our sins and rose from the dead so that we could be with him and praise God forever.  That is great news!  He is coming again for his own to judge all things. All that is evil will come to an end.  We don't know if He will come in the next moment or the next century.  Likewise, we are not guaranteed whether our life will end in the next moment or years down the road.  However, we know that the door is open now to loose our burdens, and if we desire to be a part of the Lord’s family, to choose whether we will spend eternity with Him or apart from Him.
We, at the Gateway Center, thank the Lord for opportunities to help people in the nations transform their lives into the image and likeness of God.
Gateway Prayer:  Lord, you have called us to the ministry of discipleship and transformation.  Help us lay down any obstacle or burden that might stand in the way.
Personal Reflection:  Scripture says that life and death is in the power of the tongue.  What will you choose?
